More about Bansko

The mountain town of Bansko lies where the most beautiful Bulgarian mountain called Pirin begins. It is a scenic mountain and vastly famed national park. Characteristic of Bansko are the ski slopes and tracks, and not only natural snowfall is relied on; snow cover is ensured by artificial snow machines: about 80 percent of the slopes are equipped with such machines. The ski center is reached from Bansko via a road with good lighting and artificial snow machines equipment. The modern gondola lift transports in gondolas which seat up to 8 people. Several chair lifts also transport people upwards and downwards. There are rope line facilities for adults and for children.

Stages of alpine skiing competitions organized within the frames of the World Cup are held in Bansko. They are spectacular events. Other interesting competitions are biathlon and, too, arm wrestling. Bansko’s own football club is also a local pride.
