Kotor Old Town

Kotor Old Town is located on the Bay of Kotor, between mountains and the Adriatic Sea. UNESCO protects the location due to its rich cultural and historical significance. The city walls are the most attractive trait of this tourist spot, as they stretch for nearly 5 km, and you can climb on the surrounding hills to watch the breathtaking view. You can also encounter multiple boutiques and trade shops worth visiting. Today, the old town of Kotor is considered the best-preserved medieval urban entity in the Mediterranean. It is a must-see destination and a favourite of the majority of tourists.

Budva Riviera

The Budva Riviera is a top Balkan tourist destination with secluded and exotic beaches. The crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea allow for different water activities, such as swimming and snorkelling. The region's nightlife is also quite vibrant, and the variety of bars, clubs, and restaurants is worth trying out. The entire line of beaches is 21km long, offering a fantastic variety of coastal gems. You can try out kayaking, go surfing or simply sunbathe in the wilderness. Njegusi Village

Njegusi is a picturesque little village situated high in the mountains of Montenegro. The main reasons for including this spot in your Montenegro tour plan are the natural surroundings, traditional architecture, and hiking opportunities. The houses in this village are made of stone, which creates an authentic character and а pleasant atmosphere. The total population of the village consists of 35 people, making it a unique tourist destination. Furthermore, the preserved traditional folk architecture of the buildings quickly transforms visitors to another point in time.

Lovćen National Park

If you are a tourist who enjoys long walks in nature, include Lovćen National Park in your tour of Montenegro. The entire area of the park is 62 square km, so there is quite some area you can explore. The park is known for its diverse landscapes and rich biodiversity, and you can explore numerous types of plants and animal species. One of the historically significant landmarks of the area is the Njegoš Mausoleum, dedicated to Peter II Petrović Njegoš. The tallest peaks in the park are Stirovnik (1.749m above sea level) and Jezerski (1.657m above sea level).

Our Lady of the Rocks

Gospa od Škrpjela is a man-made island, a unique part of the Montenegrin history and culture. The legend regarding the origin of this island is that back in the 15th century, two fishermen found a miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary on a rock. After that, people from the local community started throwing stones into the sea, eventually building an island. To continue the tradition, there is a festival each year in July involving locals gathering in boats and throwing stones around the artificial island to maintain its maintenance. A great place to include in your trip itinerary indeed!

Ostrog Monastery

The Ostrog Monastery is an Orthodox monastery located high in the Montenegrin mountains. It was founded in the 17th century, and its most distinctive feature is its unique architecture and integration with the surrounding cliffs. Pilgrims and visitors often seek solace, healing and spiritual guidance when visiting Ostrog. The monastery is of spiritual significance and is therefore seen by millions of tourists yearly. The present-day look was given to the Monastery in 1923–1926, after a fire which had destroyed the major part of the complex.

Sveti Stefan Island

Sveti Stefan Island is located off the coast of Montenegro in the Adriatic Sea. The history of this island dates back to the 15th century when it was a medieval fishing village. Its turning into an island was to protect the inhabitants from invasions by pirates and the Ottoman Empire. The island's most distinctive feature is its exclusive resort, Aman Sveti Stefan, which is an international luxury hotel and spa. It is a 5-star franchise hotel that includes the islet of Sveti Stefan and part of the mainland, where the Villa Miločer part of the resort is located.

Not particularly. Compared to most popular Western countries, Montenegro is considered an affordable destination. You can find cheap accommodation and transport and the entry fees are also relatively low.

2. Is 2 days enough in Montenegro?
It depends on what you wish to visit for your Montenegro tour. If you are not keen on seeing all the places we listed in this article and only go to the most prominent sites, two days can be enough for you. However, for a fuller country experience, we recommend 3-4 days.
